1929 cattle contract

My best friend died at age 87. Going through his stuff I found a contract for 130 steers of his dads and his dads father in law. Check out the dates, weights, terms , and price.

Steer calves brought 19 cents in 1964 or so. They didn't go up much......

I liked that the contract was wrote oct 1929 and they were going to pick them up between sep 1930 and sep 1931.

29 oct1929 was the stock market crash of the Great Depression. They inked this deal 15 oct 1929. Lucky

I was gonna ask how close that was to the crash.

Quite interesting. One year in the mid 1930's, my granddad got the outrageous price of ten cents per pound for his steer calves. My dad, being 10 or 12 years old at the time, thought that if they could just contract their calves each year for the rest of his life for that whopping good price, they would have it made.
