Here is a pic of one of our top 9 year old cows. She was in heat today, 23 days after calving. We have been feeding CRP hay only, have 3ft of snow on the ground, and it has been below zero since claving. Gotta love hardy efficient cows. Her heifer calf is on the left.

What's her mature weight Galloway2, if ya don't mind me asking? :D And while i'm bugging you, what do those galloway calves weigh at weaning and finish weight? She looks like a nice lil' cow and i have wondered how galloways would do in my country. Thanks! :D

She is all of 1100 in running condition. Her bull calf last year had an 82lb bw, a 646 lb weaning weight, and is right around 1200 now.

Many of our cows are right at 1000 lbs, with weaning weights averaging in the 550 range. If put on feed at weaning, the calves will finish at 1100-1200 @ 13 to 14 months and typically yield in the mid 60% range YG 1 and 2.

Many of our cows originated in the deserts of S. Idaho. They are tough/hardy cattle, that will graze anything.

Thanks for the info! :D Sounds like an effiecient breed of cattle. And if they thrive on the Owyhee desert of southern idaho, they'd do fine here.
