A buddy of mine had a calf born a couple days ago with 5 legs. cow had it on her own and he is alive and doing well. He first wanted to know if I had an extra calf to sell because he thought it was a dud. I quickly told him not to act to soon that thing could be worth ALOT of money. Upon further research a 5 legged calf is more rare than a 4 eye or 2 headed calf. In fact there is only 6 documented cases and Ripley's believe it or not purchased one of them. I told him I would post it on here and to get a good picture for me to post.

I'd eat road kill before eating that. And I'm sure not likely to be eating road kill anytime soon :?

I bought an older cow from a high-falutin' registered operation many years ago. She was bred to one of the leading bulls of that era, and I eagerly watched her nice bull calf being born at about ten o'clock one February evening. Seeing that the calf was alive and well, I dreamed all night of being a top seedstock producer someday soon. :-) Imagine my chagrin the next morning to find that the calf had a tail growing out the side of his neck. :( When the calf walked, it was at a forty five degree angle like a sailing ship tacking into the wind. His regular tail came out of his spine at a 90 degree angle, and the Keren approved (old Ranchers.net joke) bunghole was visible at all times. It was chagrin at the time :( but now I just grin. There are more important things in life.

Contact Dr Beever. He is looking for genetic samples of calves with this challenge to design a dna test with.
