A friend lucked into a 4yr old mare. Never been touched except long enough to put a halter on and loaded in a trailer. She's got her bluff on in a bad way. She'll flat run you out of the pen. She'll stomp a mud hole in you if she ever got you down. That friend wants to try to get her started, but I'm not too sure he can get'er done, and I sure don't wanna see him get hurt. According to him, that mare give 'em a black eye, pawed him in the shoulder bad enough that he had to have surgery on it. :???: :???:

Sounds like your friend bad-lucked into a knothead. I'd get him to realize if he's in over his head he may end up busted up and still have a knothead for a horse. Hope it turns out alright. I'd offer to top her off but i just remembered I'm old and pretty fragile!

Horses are to cheap right now to feed a bad one, get'er down the road is what i would tell him and concentrate on something worthwhile. As the saying goes,"A bad deal,is worse then no deal at all"

I'd like to thank you all for responding. I agreed to take her off his hands and try to find him something he'd be able to get along with. Hope he's learned everything thats free aint all it's quacked up to be.
