Cute babies...they look good. We're foaling now too...I think we had number 5 yesterday and have about 10 more to go. Finally got something other than a palamino!

Hey Ranchy, where do you hang your hat in NM, if you don't mind me asking? I was raised north of Farmington (my folk still ranch there) and our place is split between Colorado and New Mexico. I know call the prairies of ND/SD home. Funny how different the terrain is here from the Colorado side of our place (high mountain valley,) and how similar it is to the New Mexico side of our place (high mountain desert.)

Cheers---

TTB

The paint colt is mostly a gruella at the moment. The stud that sired both these babies is almost a buckskin. The paint colt's mama is a sorrel and white mare, mostly white.

There are 3 more mares there that are bred to the same stud, another paint, a dun, and a chestnut Belgain......that's gonna be an interesting colt, I'm thinkin......lol

We're down south of Farmington, a little wide spot on 180 called Luna. Very mountainous here, the house sits at 7300' elevation. We woke up to 12* here this morning, and I caved in and built a fire. I think it was about 54* in the house. A little cool to be comfortable. Today we have more clouds than wind, looks like it could rain later! Keep your fingers crossed! :D

Here's a pic taken a little closer to home:

The pic of the mare and colts was actually taken over by Reserve. BIL has a place leased over there, and it's quite a bit warmer to be foaling out mares. These are actually his mares and colts. I just snuck a pic to put in here. hehehe

These are 3 of the geldings we use on the ranch:

The one behind the one in front, Alex, is the "deadly weapon" the forest circus accused my BIL of attacking them with, when they were rustling the cattle on the Diamond Bar a couple of years ago. Rocky is in front, Little Dan is to the right.

Our son, riding Little Dan, with all 3 of the dogs.....this is east of Luna.

Hubby, filling the water trough for the horses and yearlings, this is just down the road from where we live.

Here's our son, Al, on Rocky, with Peach in tow. This is our back yard.

Another paint mare and her colt, on the left is one of the Belgain mares.

Just some pics so you can see where we live.......:D

Thanks for posting the pics, looks like a great place to be. I really like to see the pictures of all of the different places that people try to make a living off of cows.

I think everyone who has EVER owned a horse has had at least one ROCKY !!

I know I did and he was wonderful....but his named was 'officially' ROCKET....for a good reason!!!!

LOL Jinglebob!!!!!! I'll see what I can find for ya..

FH, the two pups are half Cur, half Red Bone Hound.......our nephew's bear dog got loose and bred our Cur, so that's why the wierd cross. That's Pup with the long tail, and Drover with the stub tail. Snip is, to the best of my knowledge, pure Cur........and a really good cow dog! He'll hunt em up, hold em up, whatever ya ask him to do. Not bad for a young 2 year old dog. We got him from Hubby's brother, when they had to get rid of everything on their Diamond Bar Ranch, after the forest circus stole it from them. Pup and Drover are coming along, they'll be a year old tomorrow. We think they'll probably make pretty good cow dogs, too, if not, then maybe bear dogs! LOL

I have a pic of Pup, that I'll put here, Drover and Snip are always moving too fast to get a good close-up of them! lol

Here's the one of Al and the old Rocky..........this was in 2003, Al was 13. Rocky was starting to show his age by then, we only had him for another year or so.

Here's one of him giving a neighbor kid a ride on Little Dan, while he waited for his grandpa to come pick him up to go riding last fall.
