A couple of those pictures makes it look like you have more calves than cows...  :P

Nice pictures, and nice cattle :-)

Is that second, smaller eartag in the cow's ear their calf tag? Pretty good way to trace back who they are without having to look.

In most of our cows, that is the case. We did goof up on our "400" year cows and took out their calf tags. The cow that is calving, with purple 435 in her left ear has a smaller purple tag in her right ear that just says "35." We know by her "4" year brand that her real number is 435. The extra tag is just a back-up in case she loses the big tag.

We tag all of our calves at birth in their left ear. We try to leave their childhood tag in the left ear, for future reference, and the cows get their big permanent tag in the right ear later. At that time, a button tag with the same number (for back-up identification) gets put into the left ear alongside of their childhood tag.

Clear as mud I suppose.

He's nineteen and in his first year of college. :-)

Oh, you mean the horse. :? Goose is eleven. His registered name is EBK ESCAPE ARTIST. His sire is Thirsty's Snapper. Other names on the pedigree are Thirsty's Fortune,Thirsty's Superman, Diamond Buzz Bar, Status Symbol, Boundin Hut Bars, and Poco Pal Skip.

Goose was raised by Alan and Karen King from Culver, Kansas. My neighbor, Forrest Stewart, bought the paint as a colt. He broke the horse and, I bought Goose as a three-year-old. He's a good horse.

Nice pictures I sure am glad to see a couple of red calves. The look in Goose's eye really shows his patience (Not thrilled but will tolerate it)

Have a good one

I would concur with He's a good horse. Not the only one I saw there either, but the only one I rode. The yella horse that Brady is on looks a little more seasoned than some he's been pictured with.

Looks to me like the Kosmo Kid is just WAITIN'  for a prospective wreck to pass by!!! Great pics again Soapweed. Great reminders of being young again. Thanks
