My plans to meet Faster Horses and her husband, Mr. FH had been developing for ten days or so. I had a window of opportunity to take two mares to Piedmont, SD for breeding this week. The weather and other complications prevented me from doing it on Monday or Tuesday but Wednesday dawned a clear, beautiful morning which allowed me to follow through with the trip.

The Faster H's arrived at High Plains Genetics where we met each other face to face for the first time. We have much in common and began a very fun afternoon which focused on mares, stallions, foals and conversation on nearly any other topic that Ranchers.net folks are interested.

I had brought along three 2010 foals for them to see and after dropping off the mares, we drove to Myers Training Stable, the home of Frenchmans Guy owned by Bill and Deb Myers of St. Onge, SD. There we were shown all of their beautiful stallions including the one-eyed Legend himself, Hot Colours, A Smooth Guy, World Speed and their new young stallion Cowboys Cartel. I have two World Speed foals and the mares brought with me will be bred back to him again. You can check the Myer's website for more information on these horses and their program: http://frenchmansguy.com/

We enjoyed the Myer's hospitality and left their place late in the afternoon, eager to find a nice place to relax over a meal together. After parting ways, we each returned home reflecting on a great visit among new friends. Our young waitress was good enough to snap a picture of us as we were wrapping up the day.

Let me say that Faster and her husband are wonderful people, and in my opinion Ranchers.net is fortunate to have the "Mineral Guru" as a prominent member.

The guy on the left needs to invest in some cows again. I beleive that with no worries and feeding exercises he has put on a little tallow since last fall. :P

Thanks for the story and the photo JF, we sure enjoyed our time with the FH's when they were here.

Here I was hoping to see some pictures of some horses.

You guys had your own little Deadwood. :D

Fun to meet up with old friends for the first time. :D

Glad you guys had a great day. :D

Yes, I know. I am still kicking my self that I did not get the horse pictures. I had my camera the whole time. My only explanation is that we were so preoccupied with conversation that I simply forgot to take pictures. This was my opportunity to show you my mares. 'Sorry about that.

The stallions at the Myers' are very impressive. That is why I added the link to their website. You can see and learn about them there.

You have a good eye, gcreek. He has put on some extra weight,
but not that much.
He has tummy troubles and he was bloated up like a pet pig
that day .Now the whole world knows. :P

I can say that JF is a very charming guy with some good-looking
horses. His 22-year old foundation mare wouldn't have to take a
back seat in anyone's program. She's a WOW in my book.
And I've been a fan of the black mare since he showed her to us
on this forum when she qualified for the world in calf roping. And
her last bay yearling is darn sure "the kind." And he's a smart little
bugger as well.

We got to visit places we had never been; we are so appreciative that
JF asked us to go along to High Plains and Myer Performanc Horses.
The Myers are very hospitable folks. It was chilly and they led those
studs out for us to see, as if we were interested in purchasing
something. What a great line-up of horses.

Thanks for the nice words, y'all,

That is the great thing about this community. You get to meet people for the first time that you already know. Jack, just remind them that you are the most suited person there to handle the wind with an aerodynamic leading edge and extra gravity to keep you in place.

I agree with Per, I am so happy to have found this community, many of you have been so kind to me. I look forward to learning from you, making friends, and maybe have the opportunity to meet some of you one day! :D

P.S. It is a great picture, sorry hear that you didn't get to take any pictures of the horses.

sweetbasil,

You've brought a "sweetness" to this forum that has been refreshing. I'm glad you found us!

By the way, how did you find this place?

Perhaps I've missed it somewhere else, but where in the USA do you live?

Hi "JF Ranch,"
Thank you for your kind words. I found this site by accident; I was looking for horseback riding lessons and anything relating to horses and the google search engine picked this site as one of the many options. I then read a few comments, and saw some pictures of horses, cows, etc. The second reason was because I was hoping to make friends that are from the country and that could teach me a few things about horses, cows, etc. since these are two of my favorite animals. I live in California, where the sun is shining most days of the year.

Happy Easter to you and your family!
