We received this letter from a 10 year old local 4H member who was soliciting interest in her market projects. I thought you all might enjoy reading it, as we did. :D

"Hi. I'm _________ _______, daughter of (parents name here). I'm in market pig, goat, beef, sheep and chicken. I've had very much enjoyed working with my projects because they are all sweethearts. It would be lovely if you could come to the sale."

Now if that didn't touch you, what would??? :D

In our town, the kids get very well paid because the oil companies really support the kids at the 4H sale during the fair. Hard to compete with that, but the letter sure made us want to try. :D

A simple $5 Thank You for your Buyers Means SO Much

The cutest thank you gift i saw at our fair this year was from a kid who showed a lamb. She took the buyer big box (like 6by6by10) of whopper candys. She'd decorated it with cotton balls to look like a sheep. When you pulled it's "tail" it pooped a whopper into your hand. :D

Our local county's 4-H and FFA large animal livestock showmen got to break in a new barn this year. This seemingly huge facility was made possible by some good old fashioned generousity, a lot of creative thinking, and the good idea of a local school board member who proposed a lease to use the building for a bus barn, in exchange for about one-third of the cost.
On the topic of livestock sales; 5 4-H'ers donated an underweight market hog to the cause, he brought right around $30,000, to help offset the building cost.
Governer Heineman, who spoke at the dedication, was a typical Nebraskan as he said "Your community saw the need, and you got it done."
Half a million dollar project, and it's about whupped. Started three years ago with nearly 2000 dollars of bracelet sales.
