Better make sure you have it. Two people I know have had grass fires on there outfits this winter from the wind blowing down power poles and starting grass fires.
The first person I know recieved an 18,000 fire dept bill. His insurance only will pay $10,000.
The second person had a much smaller fire but it crossed onto a neibhoring outfit and burned about 10 acres. Guestaments are that he will end up with a $5000 bill from fire dept. and the neibhor. The owner doesnt think he has any fire coverage on this 1/4 section where he fire started.
Both of these fires could have been much worse! If the fire starts on your property and takes out other peoples propertys aparently you are held liable.
A lot of people that used to asume that the power company was responsible if the powerlines start a fire are now apparently looking into buying fire insurance.
In both cases no money has actually changed hands yet but apparently the land owners are going to get stuck with the bills that should be going to the power company.
