Sit back, turn up your volume, and listen to a man who runs things the way that reminds me of growing up. (I'm not really that old I was just fortunate to grow up and be near this way of life.) My children grin like crazy when they see this team in the winter or summer along the fence.

Thanks for telling us about the article and pictures, CattleArmy. I would vote Buck the best top hand that I have ever had the privilege of working with. He can read cattle and horses like a book. He is also a great story teller. His memory of Sandhills events during his lifetime is phenomenal. His wife, Joan, is a very nice lady and a wonderful artist. Her paintings are topnotch, and usually depict Sandhills ranch scenes. They are a fine couple.

Thanks so much for sharing this! Not many of the "Old Timers" left. With the price of fuel, maybe they'll make a comeback. 'Course hay ain't cheap either! :???:

In a society that seems to be speeding up and in a hurry it's nice to still see someone carrying on a tradition such as feeding with horses. They stack with horses too.

Thanks CattleArmy for sharing that!
When I go to town, people ask what I been up to, I usually say the same thing: "Sittin' on my ash".
Very few understand what I'm really sayin'.
I sit in the tractor when I feed cows, sit on the 4-wheeler when I check 'em, sit on a horse when I move 'em, always sittin', (but I still dig post holes by hand)
Buckles is right "Life is too damn easy" physically. Mentally though, it's much more challenging than the past.
