Was getting ready for going t sleep last night and my wife told me we had a tornado watch going on to the north of us and asked me to check the radar.. didn't think much of it when I checked and all the moisture was way to the north of us but did hear some rumbling and flahses of light, pretty sure they were fireworks.. 3 hours later awoke to a big storm but didn't think much of it.. Check the rain guage this morning and we got 2.25 inches of rain.. I was convinced, since we didn't have the huge puddles in the driveway we normally would have, that my daughter had been messing with me by watering aroun the guage.. That is until I took the quad out into the fields and it was more liek jet skiing than driving.. Good golly... Local big town near here supposedly got 5 inches but only saw that one place.. . On Tuesday night the corn was starting to curl, now we have standing wate rin the fields again, strange how this year is working.

Boy,you can say that again,I dont believe I have ever experienced a wetter spring/summer than this year,I still have fields I caint get in,lots of rain that's a fact, weather folks say more to come....................good luck

Saw the news finally, some towns got close to 7 inches, others had their rain guage fill up all the way so they don't know, lol... Lots of flooding along some of the smaller streams and rivers, looks pretty bad but as usuall, when it dries p they will get the loaders in there and scrap p the debries, get the pumps running to empty basements and go on from there..

With how hot and humid it is, well, it is weather tailor made for pop up thunderstorms.. Had some to the south toda but we stayed dry.. Well, as dry as you can be with 70%+ humidity and 90 degree weather

Yep- One of the wettest first 6 months we had in history-- already have over 11 inches (which is more than we got all last year...

Things really drying out now tho -temps running in the 90's- 96 today- predicting 104 for Friday (Kola could probably even wear her shorts for a little while without getting chill blains  :P  ).....

Could use a good soaker in about the next week to help these hailed out hayfields...They are really coming back, but will need moisture with all this heat....

Only problem is that every thunderstorm that brings rain is also bringing terrible wind and large hail too....Monday night it hit the northern part of our county and up around Big Muddy Ranchers country....We only got rain- .3 at the river and .5 at the north ranch.....Hearing stories of sprinkler irrigation systems blown down and crops wiped out....

I don't know where you are IL Rancher but here by Freeport we got about 1.5inches and we needed it badly!!! Hopefully in about a week or so we can get a little more. My second cutting hay is gonna be kinda short

Between Princeton and Geneseo, along I-80 jkvike.. If I was cutting Alfalfa I would have to do it soon as the stuff in the pastures is starting to bloom.. wouldn't be a great crop, but than again we aren't fertilizing for hay production.
