I was thinking of planting about 30 acres of corn to go along with the grain sorghum I'm going to plant this year. I've ruled the corn out now and am actually wondering how well the grain sorghum will do.

Man, it's dry. It's still summer and our 'winter' should have started back in late May.

A buddy of mine who does consulting work for a group of Brazilians who farm about 20,000 acres here told me that one of them has about 7,000 acres planted in corn, the plants are only a few inches tall, and there's no rainfall in sight. That's gotta hurt.

Was so wet this spring much of the cotton got planted late. Hope the guys that planted can make a crop.

A 50 lb. bag of R&R seed with all the coatings is about $360.00.

Sorry to hear it's so dry there. Drought is (usually) survivable, but sure not much fun.

Brg: It depends on seed size, but the average is around 2 and a half acres. Our 80 something day or even 95 is not that pricey, but it's too darn close. I might be mistaken but I think they try to put 80,000 seeds in a bag and you divide by the population your planting.
