For my .02 $ worth, I gotta say I'm not a big Quarterhorse fan. There I said it. A cross maybe. I've rode and seen Arabs with a ton of cowsense. Right now I've got a half tennessee walker that money can't buy. He loves doing anything with cattle, and has taught my kids alot about moving them. When the mood strikes him, he'll get into this running walk and can really cover the miles. We also use him at the odd teampenning or roping. He's nothing to look at but he's real solid built and can put in a lot of hard miles day after day. This is my biggest knock against the quarterhorse. In my opinion, they're too heavily muscled and not long muscled like other breeds. I guess that's why there is so many breeds. I like them long muscled and rangy built . This type can cover 20-30 miles(not walking or trotting) a day every day and not break down. If you luck out and they have some cow in them you have a real good dependable horse for years.
