I was on a forum the other day and someone stated that a 9 footer had been captured. We have them around the kamloops area in BC but I had no idea they had slithered into one of the coldest provinces in Canada!

 YECKKKKKKKKK

We have rattlesnakes in Alta. Milk river,Drumheller areas.....they are warmer areas.

Hey Judith have you ever been to Writing On Stone,at Milk River...one of my fav. campgrounds ever.Your son would LOVE it there.

I have driven through Drum a zillion times, and you know I have never stopped to look at anything ( Judith hangs head in shame) Gorgeous country! But I am always on my way somewhere and have never had the time to stop

Oh you should stop in Drum....really different area.

Milk Rivers WAY South Alta. Beautiful area, anyway Writing On Stone,is a provincial campground and theres lots of Indian Writings on the stone, walks and tours taken daily with the wardens...and an awesome river area the kids can tube down...we love it there buts quite a drive.

Another great interpetive campground is Dinosaur ParK close to Brooks, rattlers there too.But great walks, differnet land there the rest of Alta. And animals and flora thats not really native to antwhere else in the province.

They seem to be everywhere... We don't have any venemous snakes in this county but we do have some in Illinois so I would say officially we might not have any but that doesn't mean they won't show up. Massequa or something like that is a water one in the state and we have Rattlers to, Pygmy's I think down South and have heard of ones under peoples porches down South a bit in Monmouth area but no one around here seems to have ever seen one.. I would like to keep it that way, snakes give me the heebie jeebies, even the Fox and Garder snakes we see all the time. I worked at a pet shop when I was a youth and had to feed the snakes... Yeesh, that was always fun...

I am most familiar with the Edmonton area as that is where the family lives. Looks like Mom and Dad are heading out there for the summer again. I love being able to work outside til 11 at night and then up again with the sun! Just love it!

judith
that is a straight up lie
i remember that snake and when they found it last fall
it was at a pump staition about a mile from my brotherinlaws house close to fritch texas here in the panhandle
and we were all shocked at the size of the snake as a 4 foot praire rattler is a large one for this area
until later

Never thought, or hoped, to see one in person but did just today. Me and the future mrs went out huntin Morrels, those are mushrooms, and walked up on a4 to 5 footer. Not sure how big he was and didnt much care, all i new was that i ran to the house and grabed the 12ga to take care of him and he was gone. Kinda scary seeings how it was in my horse pasture and the dogs are always runnin through there chasing rabbits. I told Becca that from now on shes taken a gun or shovel with her when she goes huntin shrooms.

Thats why pistols are so handy. Small and eassy to carry and when you need a gun, you've got one with you. :)

Never know when you might need to shoot a "varmint".
