well...we made the trip to NM to check out the place we want to buy and now I don't want to be here in CA :cry:
We will be making an offer tomorrow and hoping the man accepts!
Troy, I didn't get your message until we got back but I think I know who you were (are) :lol: We went to the Colfax county fair and watched the hog show. Was that you announcing??
We really loved Springer and looking forward to making it HOME! The people there were so friendly and helpful. Springer is actually a bigger town than the one we live in now which was surprising.
The Hubby thought it was a dry county for awhile there. He went to every store and minimart looking for a beer. Finally the people at the Pizza joint told him about the little package store. The only place in town to get a beer! WHEWW!! He was worried :lol: :lol:
We took the Grandson's to Springer lake to fish. They caught a couple of catfish and a bunch of frogs. Somebody's cows were out and all around the lake. They all had calves and we so enjoyed watching them while the boys fished.
Just down the road from the place is what we were told use to be Wilford Brimley's place. Don't know if it's true but it sure was pretty! On hwy 56??
We went on to CO on Saturday and went to the Select Sale. We bought 4 new cows with calves. 3 heifers and a bull calf. It was a buyers market!
We are just going to pay rent on some pasture for now. Don't want to move them here then back to NM if we don't have to.
Anyway just thought I would share. I'll keep ya'll posted.

NMBound that would have been me, at that point in time I was still in a good mood and functioning pretty well. Glad you enjoyed things, and yes that was Brimely's place and it is on hwy 56. He sure moved in and planted a bunch of buildings and then let the weeds take over. I think the new owners have started to move in though, because there was cattle grazing the weed patch one of the mornings when I was headed to the fair.
 
Yeah the folks that bought that place from mr brimley their name is perkins the old man name is tom , they are from right here were i am , so get used to things bein ash backwards and then they will build an airport and then start sub dividing soon thats what they wer etryin to do here till they ran them out of the country , he will over graze then sell out to developers so that towns fixin to get bigger .
 
AZ, yep it says Perkins in big red letters on the gate!! Looks like a real pretty place right now. From what I could see from the road.
Troy I wish I would have asked around for you while we were there. Everyone just looked so busy at the time. I have to tell you that was the smallest fair I have ever been to. The kids were dressed so casual and they all looked so layed back. We really liked that part. We tried to find kids from the Springer 4-H club to talk to but we weren't able to locate any. Just have to look them up when we get moved.
It was a great trip except for that trip across Arizona, DANG that seems like a long state!!
 
Yeah thats our fair, a small but friendly bunch. You would have been hard pressed to find out which kids belong to which club, everyone knows everyone else. Everyone pretty much picks their stalls by seeing where their friends are at and then spend the rest of the time having fun.

AZ that may be Perkins plans but they have yet to get introduced to NM attitude and personality. Dont know how many times I have heard someone was going to move in around Springer or Raton and buy up these places and subdivide them. Never has happened yet, mostly cause all these Texan's move in here and think NM works like TX and have a rude awaking. We dont call NM the land of tomorrow for nothin you know.
 
Yeah i hear ya and i am glad you folks are like that cause its gettin to were they will sell their mommas house out from under her to make a buck anymore . I just hope you guys dont have as many problems with him as we did .
