According to the Ablq. Journal, teams from 22 countries brought about 700 balloons to this year's fiesta.
A new one making it's debut this year is a Darth Vader (the head) from Belgium.
they say the Albq. Balloon Fiesta is on of the most photographed events in the world.

Oh Julie, those are so beautiful! Thank you so much for taking the photos and sharing them.
I have gotten to be in ABQ once during the Balloon Fiesta. After having knee reconstruction surgery in high school, I managed the cross country team for our track coach. Our team ran in a meet in Gallup first that weekend, on a Friday, then in Albuquerque on Saturday, with the rising balloons on the horizon. I can't help but believe that was a magical background for the meet!

I attended the ALQ hot balloon fest a number of years ago. My mom and her 2nd husband exchanged vows in one before taking off for a ride. I got to ride in one, too, it was AWESOME!!!!

The Balloon fest is one of my mother in laws favorite things to go do. She's been many times......and this time of year when she doesn't go......that's where she wishes she was LOL.

while I'd love to take credit for the photos....I didn't take them 
I was in Roswell sitting for years (okay days) in the livestock barn of the Eastern NM State Fair waiting and hurry up and wait...Lane showed his goats down there --he and 200 other goat herders --got home late last night.
The first came off the Albq. Journal Website..the rest from the balloon fiesta site...so print as you will ...and here is a link for more as they happen...
