This is the old barn that burned on December 17, 2008.

This is the new building, barn/hay storage on the left and workshop on the right. Not nearly as much room as the old barn beings it is only one storey high. Sure nice for hay storage though. Can stack 4x5 rounds 5 high if they sit right on the prongs. The truss sits on 20' sidewalls.

Looking into the shop from the front entrance. Some days that's all I do . . .

Stairs at the back of the shop up to the mezzanine. Stairway to heaven. My wife has a rocking chair stored up there already and sometimes I pull the cover off of it just to check on it haha. . .

Looking at the workbench and parts wall from the back of the shop. I'm planning on having a very, very small workbench. Suits my nature. Got the top for the workbench but gotta weld up a frame and legs under it. Kinda hard working on it with it still laying on the floor . . .

Doo doo doo loookin' out my front door! I really like my overhead door. 16'x24' polycarbonate lets a lot of light in and kept the temp close to the freezing mark most of the winter when it was down to -12C at night and got up to 5 to 8C in the day time when the sun was shining.

Got a few more but I'll see how this works first.

Apparently you copied the link to the thumbnail instead of the link to the full size pic??? I ain't much help when the pics not on photobucket. I rely on that place completely for photo posting.

Thanks everyone. I do enjoy working out there. It's not hard to get used to working on a cement floor where one can actually use a pallet pump cart for moving crates and pallets or roll under a vehicle on a creepy. Our boys spend a fair bit of time out there in the evening after they get home from work so it must be kinda friendly!

I don't have the infloor heat hooked up yet but if this winter was any indicator, it should not be too hard to heat with that polycarbonate door capturing quite a bit of heat from the sun. The building was situated to face due south to get the most sun in the front of it.

I plan to use an electric water heater for the heat source. Apparently we are getting switched over to "smart meters" for our electricity in July at which time our off-hours rate will be about half of our peak hours usage rate.

These "smart meters" will tell the utility co. when we are using power and charge us accordingly - more for peak usage time (daytime) and less for off-peak time usage (night time).

So, I can put a timer on the water heater to run it only during off-hours and get my electricity for heating the shop at about half price. Next winter, we'll see how that works out.

Yeah, Big Muddy, Jeff told a couple of guys that they might like to come over to get ideas for their shop. But they're smarter than I am cuz they sold their cows in January . . . :?

Faster Horses, my shop is nicer than my house too!
