New to the forum - but I wanted to get a quick temperature to see, from fellow Utahns or anyone who has specific knowledge, where are the best places to raise cattle in Utah? If you could by 10,000 acres anywhere in the state -where would it be?

Personally, I really love some areas near Bear Lake in the NW - but I've not been all over. Thanks for posting.

While the West Desert that I call home is unique and beautiful in its own way, I wouldnt call it a cattle paradise. Southern Utah around Beaver or out in the Basin by Vernal would be two spots to look. The North Slopes of the Uinta Mountains down into Wyoming is perfect cow country. Where ever you choose, keep us in the loop! :D And when ya get your ranch bought and stocked, whistle if ya need help.

10,000 acres is alot of country. Are you looking to just run cattle or do some farming.

I travel quite a bit thru Utah and see lots of beautiful cow country. I would have to agree with Leanin H. That country just north of Beaver - Fillmore, Holden and Scipio. But if you want to be near Bear Lake, Laketown to Randolph is way nice country too.

Where do you come from and what are you used to for weather

Go down by fillmore like the other two have said. I live up by Park City real nice summers but the winters are mean and cold. I run west of fillmore in the winter good country don't have to feed hay out there. Another good place to look is out in the price area. By the way welcome to the forum and only believe half of what you read out of H :D :D sorry H couldn't resist

No dog in this kennel but if I were recommending an area for you to ranch in I would want to know what kind of neighbor you were going to be. :!:  Welcome to the site.

Heck I only believe a third of what I type mostly because I can't read too well! Park City? :???: Get a ROPE!

Hay now I said I am by Park City I didn't say I was from that Obama loven town

Thanks for the responses. They've all been informative and confirmed more or less what I've been thinking. My father have owned horses and have been around cattle for years, and we just figured now might be a good time to buy a place - even if we don't stock it for a few years. 10,000 acres is a lot, and we'd be looking for less... but I wanted to get some imaginations stoked. Our first step will be buying the land... we're not in a any rush, so when we get our first small herd, we'll have to have a lot of other things set up. Anyway, thanks for the hearty welcome. I'm sure I'll be taking advantage of the accumulated knowledge here for some time to come.
