Where I Am
Ah, I remember the days when I was 16 and had just joined this crew and people warned of large photo posts because we all had dial-up and it took a day and a half to load pictures. Makes me feel like an old geezer. Well I suppose I am now at the old age of 21, and cue a collective eye roll from those who have been around three times as long as this pup. Here's some pictures of what I've been running around doing.

Basic gist, I graduated with an associates in Ag Comm from Casper College in May, worked for a cow/calf outfit in NW Kansas all summer, and came down to West Texas A&M in Canyon to finish out my degree and my livestock evaluation career. I'm off to a good start judging wise with my first few senior college contests under my belt and a handful of ribbons and plaques indicating that I can still run with the big kids. Beyond that, I hate reading text as much as y'all so here's some illustrations to my last several months.

Practicing posing in case I have to model for a living someday. :D

Stay posted for some more from this spring!

Great set of pictures and it's really nice you caught us up to date.

Nice seeing your Black Bull

Everything seems great but the looks of your hat in the selfie going to A&M is corrupting you a bit. :cowboy: :cowboy:

The lids in Texas are just bigger, and I do mean cast enough shade for me and my immediate company. Kind of like the thing though, sure gonna save me some sun burn if I have to ride yards this coming summer. I've worn it on a couple 70-80 degree days during the winter down here and received a butt chewing on how straw hats are for summer, but it can be too hot for a felt even in January this far south!

Great to hear from you Cade. If you ever get the cross border work visa thing figured out we can use some help up here. That hat might just allow you to fly north with the geese..................

I'll even throw in a wolf judging course for free!

I can agree with wearing a straw hat in the winter, but your looks like it got stuck in the squeeze chute.
Other than that looks like you are doing good.

Y'all are awesome, I deserve every bit of grief on the hat, but I'm only young once. At least I don't have a perm or bell bottoms or something ridiculous. GCreek, I'll head that way someday. If only for a visit I plan on getting north of the border for a while. And Richardd, this old hat was designed just for that. If I get caught with my arm up the south end of a north bound cow and we have to yank the squeeze down on her, my good hat won't get mashed.

I'll take a good leg pulling every now and again! My clothing style has changed some buts there's nothing permanent that I can't change.

Fun to read your posts. I have grandkids ages 10, 17, 21, 22, 24, 25, and 30, the last two being the boys, so can relate to your 'experiences'. The boys are married, with the oldest having two little girls one who will be three in May, and the other three and a half months old.

We were recently in San Antonio and various other places in TX, as we drove from SD and vacationed after our convention. Spent a whole day in Canyon at the Prairie and Plains Museum. It is great. Then drove down Palo Duro Canyon and it is really awesome. Then, we drove through part of it from the south on a state hiway through some good ranch country. Earlier, we stopped at Fredericksburg, drove north through some interesting country. Stopped to question a rancher as to how he gets cattle out of the extremely brushy, rocky, cactus strewn mountains they were running in. He said caking them really helps! But stated he used to ride that country. Would sure be hard on horses! Visited friends at Throckmorton before heading west and north, then on to Oklahoma City and Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center to spend another great day. Visited a friend at Kiowa, KS, then back south to watch some of the 'World Series Team roping' at the Lazy E arena. An impressive place! Then on toward home, via the Kansas Tall Grass Prairie country, interpretive center, four story old barn and beautiful old home. North to Lincoln to visit grand daughters before heading northwest toward home. Drove through rain from McCook, NE to Abilene, TX going down, and snow in north KS, and last 50 miles home on I-90 and hiway #63 on last Monday.

Point: make the most of the sights you can see wherever you go. Take advantage of opportunities to learn history of places you visit and visit friends and family whenever you can, especially as you get older. Memories are treasures for times when you may not be able to travel for whatever reason.

And enjoy the hat whenever you want to. Straw hats may look a little odd in winter, but I saw lots of them at the cattle convention in San Antonio. And it was COLD till the day after meetings ended and the sun came out so our day of being just tourists was enjoyable there.
