Black Herefords

Have any of you had experience with registered Black Herefords? I am wondering if a registerable black white face (Black Hereford) bull produces calves with more consistent quality traits than a black baldy bull?

Do you get better prices for a black baldy steer than a Hereford? Do meatpacker buyers pay for black baldies the same as Angus?

Do you think Black Herefords qualify as a separate breed?

Baldies bring about 30 cents more than a straight Hereford steer at the auctions here. If you retain ownership and sell on the grid it will be a lot closer except the baldie could get the CAB bonus and the Hereford is not eligible for that.

agreed...in some cases. I love the taste of meat after raising few baldies so when I can trade for one I get it cheap and raise fer myself
