Over the last month, I have found 4 nice bucks that I am pretty sure died of EHD/Blue Tongue. Haven't found a doe, nor a real young buck. I have a theory on that, but I want to know what you guys think.
Obviously, with that many dieing from natural causes, we are going to have to increase our harvest rate. Right now, you have to take 1 doe before you can take a buck. This year, you might have to take 2 females. If we don't manage the population of the deer, mother nature sure does.

My thinking on the bucks, is that they stay out in the hills during the summer. Only come down to the river in late summer early fall, and that is when I am out on the river hunting cows, and just basically goofing off. My guess is, that the doe, and fawns die off earlier in the summer, when the scavengers are still hungry, and prominent.
I haven't found anything dead in the last week or so, but there for awhile it was pretty ripe around here. You didn't dare turn a dog out, if you didn't want them smelling like they were dead. Sure cut down on the dog food bill though.
