Needing a new pair of work boots pretty soon. Always looking for something better. What does everyone where and why? My oldest has a pair of ariat square toed work hogs and says they are like "pillows on his feet". He's 7 and that's the first pair of nice boots he has ever got. I have been wearing Ecco lace up "boots". They aren't really work boots but are dang comfortable, just don't last to long.

I wear laceup Justin brand work boots. They have a yellow fabric label on the top of the tongue that says "Original Justin Work Boots". This is my second pair and they seem to just last and last. I faithfully use "Sno Seal" to grease those suckers up and that really seems to be the key to avoiding the cracked leather, which can ruin boots in a hurry. I wear them in the feedlot, on the ranch and hunting in light snow and mud. They're very comfortable and seem to be a mid-weight boot. I just make sure to clean them up with some frequency and keep as much Sno Seal on them as possible. That stuff keeps the water out and the leather supple, but will sure darken the leather so it's not safe if you're concerned about the original color of any leather.

I see lots of feedlot hands wearing regular Ariat boots and similar stuff. They are good for riding and I like them to wear out and about, but they look like they're about to fall apart when those guys put them to the test with some real work. I'm sure they're not the "wok hogs" that you're describing though.

I have to wear lace up boots due to foot injuries and have wore Justin original work boots for quite a while. I like them. Had some early Ariat lace ups i didn''t like and just bought a pair of Tony Lama TLX shoulder Buffalo. I usually wear a pair for clean up until they need to go to work. :D

I'm liking the Tony Lama's so far. but they are still the clean up boots.

I'm wearing a pair of Rocky Long Range 8" lace ups right now. So far, so good. I get my boots pretty funky with manure, mud (?) ;), LOOMIX, and about anything else imaginable. I would like to try a pair of Twisted X in the future.

sure repeating yourself alot.

I've been wearing Whites lace-ups for about 10 years. They are comfortable and long lasting. When they get wore out I send them back and get them rebuilt for about half the cost of new.

Have worn lace up red wings for 40 plus years, don't do over shoes, much to better 1/2 dismay, wear them every day, mud snow heat, grease, diesel, the works. Take good care of them, they last a year, treat them horribly, they last a year. Getting older, feet don't hurt at night, so I'm doing ok.

Same here we have a great redwing store 20 miles south of me. I always buy steel toes also but that's a safety concern in my business. I buy them with a heavy plastic guard over the laces also but I cut that off as I'm really after the double wrapped toe leather lots of kneeling and toe dragging in a welding shop. They last a year single leather toe 6 months.

I really like my Wolverine 6" lace ups. Several years ago I was having trouble with fallen arches and my feet hurt a lot. The local shoe store owner who has been selling shoes 40 years suggested these work shoes with a real good insert to support my arches. They worked wonders with my sore feet. When your feet hurt you hurt all over it seems like.

I have worn Ariats for quite a few years now and they were always very comfortable from day one but they quit making the style I like. I can't bring myself to wear the square toes, besides looking like they were made for dragging behind a plow all day they wouldn't be very handy for grabbing at a stirrup if you step on a bronc that is a little snaky. I just got a pair of Tony lamas 3r boots that feel alot like the Ariats.
When I am driving tractor or doing alot of work on my feet I really like the Columbia trailmeister hiking boots. They are light, comfortable, breathe well and are pretty warm when it is a little cool out. also they are waterproof.

I also like the Justin lace-up work boots, but mine aren't very old yet, maybe only a couple years. My other pair are a cheaper brand, but they replaced the same model from 1995, just five years ago. I alternate pairs, and try to keep them oiled. They work around 9 months a year here, some winters the Mucks are only because of temperature. Yep that is 13 years out of a pair working 4 and a half months a year.

Wish I could get a job working only 4 and half months a year.

About 20 years ago I bought a pair of Cabela's kangaroo hide lace ups. Still wearing 'em. Light as a feather. Having said that, I try not to get them overly dirty with oil, grease, etc. That's why god made mechanics. :D

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like I have a little rechearch to do checking all these boots out. Who says only women are serious about their footwear. After all these detailed replies seems I found a few men as well. :P

"if your back hurts, change your boots" White's slogan. And it's true. Nothing I've found like a white. they make you stand and walk different. they'll custom make them for you @ no extra charge---but seldom have to, as they got about 1,000 lasts on hand anyhow. very hi arch. like good tires---a great buy is not a cheap buy. Everybody oughta own a pair--'cowboy packers' for yu buckaroos.

send back the uppers is sad shape and they'll 'rebuild' them for about 1/2---this is about like sending back a seat cushion and ashtray and getting same deal on a truck.

But they've heavy. they make a lighter 'hathorne' bit it aint the same.

Redwings toughest things I ever owned---had 2 pair of steel toed pullons on oil rigs---cleaned with live steam every nite and set above heater to dry, alternated pairs and oiled when thought of it--couldn't kill 'em.

ariats used to be cheap, fit good and last long time. last two pairs I bought cost plenty, didn't fit as good or last as long.

Besides that, they are made in China.
