I was one waiting for this to go away, but read article today saying the dude got a best director award?Figured it out finally -he is from a far away place.Ang Lee has never pulled a calf in the middle of night in a snow storm, took it into house(against wifes agreement). It is all about the hype and money. Now I fell into it,but this is my final word on it.I sat in a bush camp for 3 days with a good buddy of mine a few yrs back, his nephew and freind came to visit and stay.Never had a problem with him until he "said" My little 10 month old girl is going to grow up to be a h- -r.Still never punched him-BUT who has the problem.

I had a neighbor get a bit mouthy the night my first daughter was born-the gist of it was his boys wouldn't have far to travel. my reply-"I held my first born child in my arms right after she was born-looked in her eyes and told her don't you go near those @#%^&** Bohunks." Needless to say the party was over for that neighbor.

WHere was he from? How did he come to a decision based on talking to you? hmmmmmmmm people
I dont understand how anyone can make a decision about a persons life just on meeting them or meeting thier parents. You never can tell what is in a persons heart and what amount of drive they have.
Well I am sure you and your wife have given higher standards that your daughter will live up to.

What's directing a movie got to do with pulling a calf???

And...it was a MOVIE!! Really, all this hype against it has made it more popular than ever. I haven't seen it yet---we don't have the luxury of a movie theatre close by...but I plan to at the first opportunity.

Why??/ I wanna see what all the uproar is about!!

Actually he is from where I am from, took him into my camp and shared food and beer,he was more scared of me-for no reason, and I spent 3 days with him-not a first met.And higher standards-I hope so she finished school, was 4-H leader at camps for a couple yrs to give back?As far as I know never stood on street corner-but she does remember my birthday every yr.,just like my other 2 GIRLS ,Mom and wife

Greg, I wished you would have punched him.
I bet you did too, later.
Yeh yu loose some sleep, but I was blessed with ability to walk away from punching, women, and horses (usually) so that in morning I can decide it was right thing

LOL,some people don't get over thing easily..our daughters 23 now! She was flirting like 10 month olds do,I don't really think he meant anything by it!But I did kinda feel sorry for him and his male partner, in a outback camp with 15 cowboys!

I have said many times,Ranching may not be the most profitable work a man could do,but it is the most honorable, for some sleaze bag to insinuate other wise to make a dollar is unacceptable,I would'nt watch it if they paid me..............good luck

and Dogs, Cattle, Men that were Lesser than I, Childern, Drunks, Etc.

It would have been EASY if I had been born with it - But I'm "PROUD" to say it was a Acquired/Learned Trait :!:

I've often wondered "How That Trait Was Acquired In Me :???:
Why Me :?: Where'd I Get It :?: Lord Knows NOT FROM MY DAD :!:
I Loved Him but had Little Resprect for Him :!:

Answer :???:
Cafeteria Style Benefits (Trailoried to fit individual Needs) Old Movies - Old Westerns - - Wayne, Scott, Roy, Hoppy, :cboy:'s :kid:'s :drink:'s :cowboy:(somking) :dunce: (being one) Etc.

I have always been for Free Speach but as I watch Old Movies with V_Key where there are Scenes and Situations arise when "I Say - Thats Me"

Over the last few years I don't see Movies that supply Youth with a Good Cafeteria of Morals to choses from only  :x   :( :cry2: :liar: :secret:

There's the Lord of the Rings. :D My favourite of all time. With over 14 hours of it, it's more than a cafeteria, it's a full size, grand scale buffet!

The ultimate good versus evil story. Chock full of morals, and the good guys win at the end!

Back to the subject of Brokeback Mountain - thanks Canada!!

Why didn't you keep these guys up there while you had 'em?

The loss of a best picture Oscar for Brokeback Mountain to Crash may be considered one of the biggest upsets in years in the Academy Awards. Critics were in agreement Monday morning that Hollywood might not be ready to accept openly gay-themed movies like Brokeback Mountain.

Even Oscar winner Larry McMurtry, who won for Brokeback in the best adapted screenplay category said, "Perhaps the truth really is, Americans don't want cowboys to be gay."

Los Angeles Times critic Kenneth Turan sees the loss of the Best Picture Oscar as a sign that Hollywood isn't quite ready to grant the topic of homosexual love mainstream respectability.

While there is some dispute that gay themed movies aren't acceptable Oscar material, there may be another reason for the stunning loss for Brokeback Mountain - marketing. This should be taken into consideration, especially given the fact that Phillip Seymour Hoffman won for his portrayal of gay writer Truman Capote.

Have the Oscars become nothing more than a marketing contest?

Some weren't so surprised by Crash's win Sunday evening. It's been said that Lions Gate studio spent a bundle of money marketing the picture prior to the 78th Academy Awards in Hollywood. The film, which spanned over a period of 36 hours looked at race relations in Los Angeles and featured an all-star cast including Academy Award nominees Matt Dillon and Terrance Howard, Sandra Bullock, Brendan Fraser and Mr. Reece Witherspoon - Ryan Phillipe.

According to one report, Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. spent nearly $4 million promoting Crash. Film critic Richard Crouse adds that is almost as much money it took to make it.

Canada has won big either way. Brokeback Mountain was filmed in Alberta and is now attracting tourists wanting to view the picturesque scenery for themselves. As for Crash, writer/producer Paul Haggis is a product of London, Ont.

People magazine did an article about gay cowboys it was quite interesting. I want to see the movie to see what all they hype is all about. However the local theaters here aren't showing it. I asked one owner why and was told they didn't see it bringing many in. I do think that is a good point for this area of cowboy country and conservative view points. Not saying I'm gonna know what to think of the big screen cowboy/cowboy kiss myself. :?

I know some homosexuals and I can look past their sexual preferences and see them as just people, some I like and some I don't, the same as with other folks I know.
What I have a problem with is the media being so quick to brand me as being bigoted because I don't endorse their lifestyle.

Good point, Been There. I agree entirely.

Ditto........ Been There, and in saying that. What better company than to be with than you. I read the post on ranchersnet and I wouldn't want to be with anyother bunch of people than the ones who have the same beliefs than I. It makes me that much stronger to my faith and convictions. Thanks Steve, Cal, Red Robin, Soapweed, Faster Horses. Liberty Bell, Mike, and all those others....
