I'll just add that many good points were made on this thread from all points of thought,we should'nt bash others production methods and outfits, but everyone should speak their minds without being censored.Debate is good and is one reason to come to this site,i never go to political bull cause i have a choice what i want to spend my time reading or not reading.Been equal bashing on both Conventional and Alternative production methods and ideals.H,i hope you and your buddy won't take off because of disagreements  .Have a great day everyone 8)

I still say there is a fair bit of hypocracy involved. Interesting that OldTimers name was mentioned as he is someone I feel has seen some of the most outrageous attacks on him - nasty attacks calling him an outright liar and such - who else suffers such pointed attacks? Yet generally a blind eye is turned to it - maybe he isn't included in the "poor beat up purebred guys" category? I surmise that this animosity is caused by his political views on another forum (PB) which I don't read. I have never seen OT make an insulting or rude comment about anyone's operation or cattle on this site yet he seems to be fair game to come under abusive attack at any time. Where are the Sheriff and his deputies when this is going on?

jeff in ca makes some very good points. This forum is much like the local coffee shop. Anybody that frequent them knows that the regulars run into lots of conflict as all the different personalities learn how to push each others buttons. People come and go and take "time outs'. Thats life , ain't it great!
Even Grassfarmer takes the odd time out.
These situations always remind me of a situation from local folklore referred to as "the meat incident". Four regulars were discussing how much better the shop owner prepared the bacon than the place they went on Sunday when she was closed. A big fellow from the next table, who definitely ate a lot of bacon, took exception, and said they didn't know anything about meat.My BIL, who is kind of like the local RobertMac, went tomato head and called him outside. I laughed till I cried when my BIL told the stories, as he was quite embarrassed. I didn't think he could get that upset over bacon!
My point is, when you get a bunch of different personalities interacting on a daily basis, you can expect some conflict at times. Just human nature.

My Sheriff is preparing for his "purebred" angus sale...Galpin Angus sells following Anderson Charolais on Thursday April 1st... :p
And I'll probably be there to cheer him on- and since his sale often falls on April 1-- keeping him nervous about what April Fool will befall him this year... :???:

Grassfarmer, if you had read PB, you would have seen a different side of Oldtimer...and I believe I've called him a liar! He has done his due diligence to try to persuade some to leave...and I think he had much to do with Mike not posting much anymore. Oldtimer is no saint...he gives as much as he gets.

Yeah, he's totally innocent. Even he would tell you that.

So on a post calling for civility and respect you would be the one to call me a hypocrit?  You don't have any idea in the smallest fraction of what my point is do you? :???: How about every time you post anything on here in the future i just reply that you are an idiot? That way we can all keep our freedom and there won't be a sherrif or censor! I'll type this r-e-a-l-l-y slowly....... I don't want to censor anyone! I want folks to debate and discuss and even critic! But why call names? Why tear people up? I do not think you are an idiot Grassfarmer. I have learned a lot from how you run your operation. I want to try to implement some of your idea's out here. Will they work? It will be fun to see. I was only trying to let everyone see that other folks aren't as thick skinned as the rest of us. What would be wrong with looking out for others and erring on the side of caution? It comes down to this for me..... Say and think and post as you will. But when great people leave the site because of something I or you say, the site gets worse to me. When it reaches a certain level, who will be left to enjoy it? :? I realize now that while some agree with me and have posted or PM'd how they feel, there is a bunch of you who disagree. Fine. The world sure won't end will it. Sorry I brought it up at all. Hope that wasn't too hypocritical of me! :???:

Part of what I enjoy about this site is the opportunity to disagree with folks. On the other hand, it does get carried away.

If we'd all just respond to people in the same way that we would if that person were standing there talking to us face to face, we'd probably cure a lot of the damaging remarks.

I'm as guilty as the next.

Have a great day everyone!!

I call them as I see them.
You launched a post about all the people "forced" to leave the site by having to read comments they didn't agree with and suggested the solution is for a "bunch of loud mouths" like me to "shut the hell up or just go away". I thought that was hypocritical.
I commented this morning that the treatment of OT has in my opinion included some of the rudest, direct and uncalled for remarks I've seen on here and I think it hypocritical that that is deemed acceptable and goes unchallenged.
Those are my opinions and I don't apologize for airing them - some will agree, some disagree but this is a public forum which allows people to air their opinions.

Where exactly did I say they were forced to leave?

They left because every other post was calling them a liar at best! Thank you for your understanding, kindness and tact as always. While you defend Oldtimer from uncalled for remarks, as I have as well, I find it ironic you fail to see how others might find your comments uncalled for sometimes. You rationalize your comments by playing the "I am honest and call them like I see them" card. Doesn't make them less hurtful to the other guy but you feel all warm and fuzzy!
How about we just quit beating a dead horse. You think I'm wrong. I think you are. That's all she wrote! Enjoy your day.

I have been thinking about this thread while feeding cows as the first few early birds have started coming. Leaving on account of a couple of comments doesn't make sense to me. I have visited several Pure Bred producer pages and made notes of outfits that might be future bull suppliers because of this site. The beginnings of a bull tour plan is also in the mental works to go and see some of these cattle. Not the least of which would be BRG's. I also have plans to head north a bit to see Grassfarmers grass farm and visit RKaiser, Hillsdown and a few others who I might not have even met if they didn't frequent here. I have been to Kaiser's and Purecountries sale because of their promotion and commotion on this site. I doubt if I am alone here in trying to expand horizons and check out others operations. Who knows a deal or two might happen because some put themselves out for inspection. Take the comments as constructive criticism or disregard them completely but don't take your ball and go home. It would hurt the departed the most. This is a good place to learn to defend your practices and speak up for yourself. Grassfarmer has held my feet to the fire, I defended my position and that was that. I got a little offside with BMR about one of his friends, I backed off and that was that. I'm not saying grow and thicker skin, although that would help, I am saying to use this opportunity to defend yourself and hone the skills necessary to do so. It will help you in your business life to be able to do that.

I just do not like the personnal attacks on a person. Everything else can be compromised on even it is an agreement to disagree.

This site (as all Sites) is petty-much a "Slice of Life" - I learned YEARS AGO to pick my Friends - Mac makes that easy - "Delete"

In Truth I Learned more "things to do" in early Life.
Since I've been here I've Read Many Don't Do

In Life there's maybe One Right Thing to Do but a Truckload of Things not to Do

I fine the "Don't Do" things are Better to know at Timed!
So I Still Read Here But Who Cares
