Camp Cooley Genetics outa Franklin, TX

Too much Brangus influence. Just got an email saying their sale was canceled. All bulls are offered private treaty. They got into a tight spot a couple of years ago when some exotic animals tested positive for a "fever" can't remember the name of it. Big outfit, money oriented, is my opinion.

McGee, Camp Cooley is first rate for Brangus cattle but if you want to check on them try Dr. Robert Vineyard of Vineyard Cattle Company or Steve Dennison of Triple X Ranch. Both individuals are past Presidents of the International Brangus Association.

Anybody ever done business with these folks???

I am going to look at some bulls next week...:)

Nice beefy cattle. Unfortunate about the stupid wildebeest deal. "Smart money turned dumb".

edited to correct exotic animal.

Opps, just went back and checked... it was wildebeest.

Search "Camp Cooley Ranch" and you can probably find more information.

I think they got into the wildebeast deal because of the High dollar market for the cheese made from Wildebeast milk. If I'm not mistaken they make mozerella cheese from it. Not that Camp Cooley was gonna be the actual cheese makers...but I think they were attempting to start a breeding program for them.

If you read the article I read. It states that the disease couldn't be spread from cow to cow.....only from cow to calf.

They sold off somethin like 3000 head of their registered stock. And it says they have cancelled their current sale that was coming up, and everything will be sold private treaty. As far as "too much brangus influence" they have Brangus Bulls...Angus bulls, and Charlois bulls for sale. Not too many from the looks of the list tho.

My mistake on the "Brangus influence". I didn't word it correctly. Anything in my area with ear or showing the slightest hint of ear is discounted heavily at sale time. That was the direction I was thinking. Brangus are good cattle for their environment. :-)
