We chopped our sorgum the last couple days. Wow did it pile up. They figure the trucks are averaging 10 ton per load and we got 170 loads off of 107 acres. They did the corrals, which we also planted to sorgum this morning and we got 11 more loads off of them. I would say that 7.5 inches of rain... (which is almost half of what we normally get for annual moisture) in late July did the trick. Here we were worried in mid July that we weren't going to get anything off of it.

Congrats Brian. Silage is going the same way around here for neighbours. Anywhere from 10-16 ton/acre I'm hearing. I inspected fats at a feedlot today that has filled their pit way past the normal "front" out into the feed alley, and they still have 1000 acres of corn to take off that is 6-8' tall. Needless to say they've started digging another pit.
