Clark Man Gets 28-Point Buck

It wasn't quite the legendary 30, but a Clark hunter took down a buck that came pretty close to having that many points.

If you're looking for excitement or emotion, Barry Threadgold probably isn't the first name on your list.

"Yeah it was pretty, pretty cool," Threadgold said.

But what happened in a wooded area near Clark did bring some emotion out in him at the time.

"I was crying, she was crying, so it was pretty cool, pretty emotional day," Threadgold said.

It started when he saw a picture in one of his field cameras of what he thought was a 19-point buck.

"We saw that it was up here and couldn't believe it. We had cameras up all summer and saw lots of deer but nothing this big," Threadgold said.

He sat in his tree stand the next morning and almost lost his chance at the trophy buck when a doe stood in front of him, tempting him to take a shot.

"I pulled up my bow and then I heard a grunt behind me," Threadgold said.

Then he saw it walk within ten yards of his stand, turn, and walk in front of him before shooting it with his bow.

"I didn't have much time to pull back and let the arrow fly, but I did it and I didn't have time to get nervous even, so it was pretty exciting," Threadgold said.

We know it happened because blood still stains the area where the 28-point buck fell, and he has the pictures. As for him being excited...

"That's pretty cool," Threadgold said.

...we'll have to take his word on that.

Threadgold was supposed to bring his daughter to daycare that morning but begged his wife to go hunting instead. As part of that deal, he has to give up whitetail hunting now but says he's waiting to see if she'll hold him to it.

First thing I thought of with this thread is the cd we have "The Turdy Point Buck". Anyone else have this cd? It's way too funny :D
