Fifty-one years ago, Herman James, a North Carolina mountain man, was drafted by the Army.
On his first day in basic training, the Army issued him a comb. That afternoon the Army barber sheared off all his hair.
On his second day, the Army issued Herman a toothbrush. That afternoon the Army dentist yanked seven of his teeth.
On the third day, the Army issued him a jock strap.
The Army has been looking for Herman for 51 years

Then you might like this one, George: I was in VA hospital in Helena today. Y'know, a lot of vets work there, I've always been treated really good. Anyhow, this guy in prosetics asks me: So--armed forces, or support unit?
I go, well armed forces, U.S. army, 82nd airborne.

Oh--well that's a 'support unit'--like the Navy, Air Force, etc----for the armed forces: U.S. Marines....

It cracked me up. Then I told him I was with marines @ Phu Bai, Hue, after 68 Tet---and nobody had to tell me nothin' 'about Marines....

I do not put any vet down - - - but if we are buddies as well we all give each other a ration - - - one of my part time employees served 20 years in the Navy and I always call him "Swab Jockey" and he calls me "Jar Head"

When my step father was alive he loved changing the musical door bell from the Marine anthem to Anchors away! I wish he was still able to change it!
