We had a meltdown in the last 2 weeks. We were up around 18 inches level at the end of December. now we are down to a melted foot or so. The cows really pack the snow down when they graze. They can knock a foot into 2 inches pretty quickly.
We did miss your last big one. My inlaws from Midale are busy skidoo derbying these days.

We miss that big one as well. And it doesn't bother me a bit. We have lots of snow in the brush and coulees. Ours has settled but sure is hard. Cows are getting sore feet.

about 300 miles north of the 49th and 15 miles inside AB from the SK border. If you went to the middle of montana and headed north into canada for 5 or 6 hours you would hit our house.

Sounds like you're out there, thanks for sharing your pics.

Funny you should say that. We are 4 miles north of the northernmost point of the Battle River. The original Battleford trail from Fort Battleford to Fort Edmonton runs right south of the house.

I'm not criticizing in any way shape or form. Your cows look good. But...bein from south east texas....I fail to see very much grass.....LOL

Amazes me how it is so different in all of our operations.

If I was to turn my cows out into somethin like that, they'd look at me like I'd completely lost my mind, and stand there and starve.

The grass is hid under the water. :-)

Lilly, you wouldn't have to worry about your cows starving.

They would freeze do death first!

Looks like you've got a good winter feeding system working for you :D . Your cattle look very nice, and I look forward to learning more about your operation :D .
