Crown Royal Maple

Had some the other day. Smells like it should go on pancakes, but I think as a sipping whiskey it is okay.

Pretty gross as a mixed drink. The guy that was pouring in the maple forgot to WHOA about halfway into his pour. It would make a good syrup.

Tried it on the rocks and was pretty good. Not a "on the rocks guy" but the situation made it go down great!

I can't get by the smell. I am not a maple syrup guy, seems to me they tried to ruin a good thing. I will stick to straight Crown.

You are just a whiner anyhow!!! Won't sip any Scotch, won't come shoot. Just WHINE all the time!!!

I told you you could go cut that tree down today and I would come shoot. As for the scotch, I am not near man enough to even try it. My dad ruined me when I was in high school. The old man he was working for drank Chivas I think and bought it in big bottles. Instead of carrying a flask he just put it in small schnapps bottles. My dad asked if I wanted a drink and the label said peach schnapps so I tipped her up. I didn't quite get it swallowed when I lost my breath and the smoke started rolling. That was lesson number one in always run it under your nose before you put it in your mouth. I do like a good mix once in awhile as you know and scotch isn't meant to be mixed.

Straight Crown is even too sweet for me-- I can't imagine what this maple stuff tastes like... I'll stick to my R&R and Black Velvet...

I stay away from that rotgut stuff. Knob Creek or Makers Mark makes a fine mint julep.................or sip it straight up.

While I was having breakfast this morning (pancakes and eggs) the waitress and I got talking about Maple syrup- which led to discussing the Crown Royal Maple...
Then she told me that they have Caramel Black Velvet behind the bar too...That almost made me toss my freshly ate breakfast...

I went to get some today.....I picked up the smallest bottle I could find.....when
I went to pay, the clerk looked at me a bit odd, and I said I wanted to try this
and asked what others had been saying about it. He replied that it was really sweet,
that you really had to like maple.......so he gave me a tiny bottle that
contained maybe a shot.......took it home and tried it on the rocks. Sorry to tell
you, I did NOT like it.Same with Mr. FH. We found there was a bitter taste with it, like trying to blend two
flavors and they didn't blend. Sure glad I didn't buy that $24.00 bottle.
Royal Crown is top shelf for sure, but this stuff wasn't even a close second.
FWIW....... :P

I agree I also bought the tiny bottle and wasn't impressed. I like Crown, but got turned to Makers Mark here a while back and have become partial to it.

FH- Have you ever tried Rum Chada ... Its a creamy drink that works good in coffee or on the rocks.... I guess it one of the hot drinks with the college girls- but after hearing about it I bought the wife a bottle... She loves it- and as much as she drinks- that bottle will last til next year...
