Boise, ID (Tucson News Now) -
A cyclist who stopped to poop was fined and cited for causing a 73-acre wildfire in Boise, Idaho on Wednesday.
According to a press release from the Bureau of Land Management, the bike rider thought he was doing the responsible thing by not littering. He burned the toilet paper and quickly tried to bury it, but an ember had already set fire to dry grass nearby.
Investigators determined the fire to be human-caused, but they did not know who did it until the cyclist contacted authorities on Thursday morning.
The Hull Fire began around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Boise Foothills and was out later that same night. The cyclist – whose name has not been released – may have to pay the entire cost of the suppression of the fire.
A friendly reminder: Bury your waste, don't light it on fire.
