Daughter took in her 3 month old Jersey heifer calf for our local 4-H show and won Grand Champion and Grand Champion Dairyman.

Even though she was alone in the class the judge was impressed with her.

400 plus views and no comments?

At the awards ceremony there was no sponsor for the Dairy, hubby and I are having a belt buckle made for her for this year. Going to sponsor a buckle every year.

There has been trouble with the 4-H council and certain buckles so we are going to order our own through a place I know. Talked to the owner and they said they would sell them to us at cost instead of retail.

Congratulations to your little girl!! I just came across this...it hasn't
been up long. I would say that 400 views is a mistake. We had that
happen at least once before here. Some had over 5,000 views!

Good for her! She can start selling heifer calves to get some competion. How did she do with her lamb?

My brother and I did dairy when we were in 4-H. We used to name the heifers after girls in the valley, usually sisters . Good for a laugh at fair time. Dairy heifers would make us decent money raise them up and sell as springer. Today with all the granola crunchers feel good, get closer to your crowd a milk cow might be pretty popular. See them on Craigslist and they ain't cheap either.

She was so proud of that calf. She also got a blue ribbon in the interview judging on her Dairy project.

Nicky she was pretty much last with her lamb but I saw the carcass and it was not completely covered with fat like the others. She got $5.25 a pound. He weighted 109. Just stopped eating several times due to the heat. The other lamb is eating better now that it cooled off. She is dropping lambs and is going to do market steer.

Jeff I bought this calf's dam for $1850 a couple years ago as a bred heifer. There is always someone wanting to buy one around here. A couple people were hoping she was going to be in the sale ring and were disappointed she wasn't.

Rulon(the wrestler) and his brother Rolan showed dairy cows they get a semi to haul mostly thiers and the othewr kids sheep, swine and steers to the State Fair
