Denny, since you are the trailer guy here I was wondering if you could give me a bit of advice?
This trailer I am building out of the old motor home chassis has a boxed frame, not so easy to notch and bend to bring front to a point.It is 42 inches outside measurement, what I was wonder is how long should i make the hitch out front so it doesn't hit the truck on tight turns, with the flat front?
Plain as mud?

Thought I had the hitch figured out, but some questions arised. :???:

I've got several pickup box trailers. Fuel tank on one, fencing stuff on one, one's fulla firewood, etc.
Pretty easy to make a 'proto type' hitch out of a piece of plywood and couple of boards, see how it looks. I tend to go long rather than short, kinda follows you better (at speed) and not as apt to get ahead of you when backing. Also got several of them 'guaranteed to leak' crossover tool boxes for pickups. Handy for chain saws, assorted junk, on the hitch in front of the box.

I'd go 60"s from the bend maybe 66"sJust mark and slice little bits on the inside and the top and bottom just keep bending it together I'd fish plate it on the cut side and on the bend side first I'd weld up all the openings then plate it.

I have a channel off a old cultivator, may be a bit heavy but I will drag it down tomorrow and see what it looks like. Want to put a pintle hitch on it.
