That most short people tend to ride taller horses and most tall people tend to ride shorter horses?

Kind of like the people who have a small car and apartment in town who have a big dog and people with a bigger car and house and a smaller dog.

Sooooooo......yer sayin my wiener dogs are sposta ride in the double cab truck and the heeler and border collie are sposta ride in the toyota???? :D

Now how in the heck did you come to that conclusion, Lil?

Of course Jinglebob, if the tall people are tall enough, even a tall horse looks short. We have a friend who is really tall, and I'm always jealous when I see him setting his saddle down on the same size of horse that I'm throwing my saddle up on! Somehow it seems unfair to me that my stirrup should be waist high to step up to, so I think from now on all short people ought to get a better share of leg length when it's handed out!

I'm short and I used to like to ride tall horses. Until I married a bird dog trainer, and you have to get on and off all the time. Now I like the shorter ones :P And they are much easier to saddle.

JB- I'd love to get one of your saddles- might even try a Wade tree... But this saddle is only about 8 years old- and my old Heiser-Keystone lasted over 40 years for me (and it was used when I bought it) before it wore out- so if I get just half that out of this one I figure it will do me....Ain't any 40 mile rides left in me...

Oh, I'll bet you could still go 40 miles, if you had to.

One thing about a custom made saddle. They make a nice heirloom to pass onto the grandkids. I sure wish I had the saddle my grampa used to ride. Tho' I do have my dad's and he got it in 1932 I think. It was recovered back in the 1970's. Tree was still in good shape. He paid $35 for it and cost him about $200 to get it re-done and he sure had a fit!

I hope I don't need any more of those 40 mile rides

I wish I'd kept my Dads old Miles City saddle- but I traded it for a more modern Heiser Keystone- which at the time I thought was the thing to do

My uncle gave my son his old Porter- deep seated semi form fitter- which he had custom made for him in 1940 - cost $85- plain jane with no tooling...That saddle probably has thousands of miles on it- and thousands more in it...About all he ever did with it is get new fleece lining and replace a few saddle strings...

Have to be honest... The anatolians have never been in the truck since I brought them home.. my vet comes to the house to work on the dogs.....

Smallest dog we have is a 42 pound Kelpie... But the smallest car we have is a 1/2 ton pickup... Hmmm,. guess we buck the trend except that my 5 foot 4 wife has a 16.2 hand horse that she needed help to get on when the horse was still ridable.
