Do we have any singularitarians in the group?

No, I'm serious! In case you don't know, a "singularitarian" is a person who is knowledgeable about and pretty much believes in the predictions made by Ray Kurzweil for "the age of the Singularity."

Ray Kurzweil is a technology genius. To date, he has been awarded 19 honorary doctorates, has been awarded medals by 3 different U.S. presidents, and is in the inventors hall of fame. His predictions include profound changes in the way humans will receive their nutrition in "the age of the Singularity."

I would like to get some discussion going on the subject of human nutrition with this group if there are some singularitarians in the group or if you would like to learn a little about what Ray has predicted. It's pretty wild stuff, but it may turn out to be something you would want to discuss with your children and/or your grandchildren. You see, Ray says that "The Singularity" will occur in 2045, and that's just 35 years from now. Also, a lot of stuff is going to happen between now and 2045 as we enter "the knee of the curve" of exponential growth of technology.

I hope some of you will want to learn something about this. Thanks for your time!

Whoa, now that's some heavy stuff that he is speculating on. Sad to think that we can be replaced by computerized machines . . . :?

You think a robot can band a calf?

These then are twelve virtues :

Curiosity, relinquishment, lightness, evenness, argument, empiricism, simplicity, humility, perfectionism, precision, scholarship, and the void.

There is no evil I have to accept because "there's nothing I can do about it". There is no abused child, no oppressed peasant, no starving beggar, no crack-addicted infant, nocancer patient, literally no one that I cannot look squarely in the eye. I'm working to save everybody, heal the planet, solve all the problems of the world.

They talk about truth but they are working for Global Utopia....

Hey! This is a good start. Thanks, folks!

It is my understanding that Ray Kurzweil's main focus is twofold: predicting what is going to happen because of technology and eliminating human diseases and other conditions such as hunger and malnutrition so people can live longer if they so desire. I really don't believe that he has a global utopian agenda. Rather, he aims at predicting "the inevitable."

Ray has set himself up as an experiment in nutrition and health. He has a very strict nutrition program including taking a lot of supplements each day. He is constantly getting blood tests done so he can see the effects, and then his "metrics" are being compared to various population statistics to see how he is faring. So far, he says the tests show he has aged only a couple of years in about the past 15 years when compared to the various population statistics.

He is a very active man, and I'm sure we will continue to hear a lot more about him in the next few years. He is a keynote speaker at many conferences including one at the Science Center at Harvard University just a few days ago. His work has caused a lot of debate and discussion, and will continue to do so most likely. But he has a pretty solid track record so far, and I think we should "stay tuned."

I highly recommend you obtain a copy of his book, The Singularity Is Near, and study it as often as you can. Then discuss it with your kids and/or your grandchildren. They will most likely be around when Ray's singularity arrives, and the question is, "What should they be doing with their lives to be ready to live and function and be happy in 'the age of the singularity?' "

By the way, burnt, it has been reported that a robot just performed the first heart surgery with the doctor operating the robot from the next room and that NASA is going to send a robot to the international space station on the next flight with tests designed to find ways for robots to do a lot of the "chores" up there that humans have been doing including space walks for maintenance work.

Ray Kurzweil says that the building blocks of the singularity are genetics, nanotechnology and robotics. I receive Google email alerts each day about robotics along with other subjects. You would be amazed at how many people are working on robots. Many schools and other organizations have robotics teams that compete in robotics competitions all the time.

Most dairy cows in large dairies are milked by robots now, and there is no doubt in my mind that if someone made the decision to put time and money into building a robot that would band a calf, then it could be done. It's really amazing stuff that is coming down the pike.

One more thing I will throw in while we are on the subject. The robots that Ray Kurzweil is predicting will be involved in human nutrition will be nanorobots or nanobots, not the big machines that most folks are working on these days.

Well if they can teach the dang thing to distinguish between a navel and a scrotum then they can probably teach it to count to "TWO"!

What a minute - I can see it having problems distinguishing between a scrotum and a heifer calf's teat in the Limo herds . . .   :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

It'll have to run a blood test in that case and check the hormones . . .

Well that could be a problem too? :???: :?

O.K., I'll quit hijacking this into a Limo bashing thread - all butts, no nutts . . . :o
