mrs greg
thanks i'm very proud of the dogs i use and raise i would rather have them to help work cattle than alot of the "cowboys" ive had to work with through the years
i'll try that photo bucket thing tomorrow
now it's time for bed i think our son will be up about 4 as he went to sleep about 6 this evening
thanks again
jerry

thanks fh
doc does have plenty of grit but he gets off his stock and has alot of work to him also
as for my daughters horse i hope she doesn't mind me riding i started him for her i think he's four in that pic's he's six this year and a super gentle horse that will do anything you ask of him
until later

Glad you got the photo posting figured out...now we expect great pictures on here! Just a quick question, are kelpies a barking kind of breed when they are working?

Some bark and some don't... From the folks I talked to the ones with Hipshot in them are often barkers, lol but Blue doesn't bark to much unless he gets frustrated by an obstinate critter... Zeke doesn't bark much at all but he has no North American breeding in him as both his parents were imported a few years back.. Skid.. god bless her.... She is just a hellian..

fh you are 100% correct about brownie being worth a mint i could not ask for a better horse for her
a friend of mine raised him but could not get him registerd because of a dna mix up but he's by a son of zips chocolate chip and out of a full sister to zippo pine bar
he brought me this horse for payment for starting another colt for him i think he had my little girl in mind the whole time
i bought another horse the next year that is about as gentle but has a little more snap to him but were keeping him for our son that's 17 months younger than our daughter

jassy
some folks in australia breed for kelpies that bark as it is helpful when wrking a couple of thousand head of sheep
my self i don't have dogs that bark hardle at all but when they get real frustred they'll bark some but i put a stop to that quik as a barking dog just excites cattle more

Thanks Jerry and IL for the info...I was thinking that if ya got alot of brush or wooded area, barking may come in handy to let ya know where your dogs and critters are..course glad to hear that they don't bark while working in a correl, that gets annoying. Thanks again.

jassy when i was huting and catching alot of wild cattle in the brush i had a blue kelpie that i let bark and he would help me find the cattle and other dogs but that was the only time i used him as barking even in the kennels is annoying to me
i also have used some bay dogs for that jod black mouth curs and catahulas
until later
