eastern Gama Grass

What you everyone tell me about Eastern Gama Grass? I am interested in turning a few acres over to it. Any help is appreciated

I planted 50 acres this spring. no till into alfalfa... it looks like a good stand, I am spraying the alfalfa in a week to kill it off, and hope to put a few cows on the gamma next spring....plan is to run 60 pairs on 60 acres when the gamma is fully established in a couple years.

Will that stocking rate last all year or just for a typical 60 day grazing period? Im looking to plant it as a hay crop, any suggestion?

I fed some gamma hay last year that I bought...absolutly LOVED it... this year the neighbor asked me to hay his gamma....I will never do that again, cut it high, and the clumps messed up the pick up attachment.... hard to dry down, clumps are rough to drive over...

gamma is a GREAT grass, but harvest it with hooves, not tires
