Yahoo has this interesting news for it's readers today:

We've heard many times before that too much red meat is bad for us, but this study of more than 100,000 people still got the nation's attention. For the first time, researchers estimated the effect of red meat on a person's lifespan—and the news wasn't good.

On average, each additional serving of saturated fat-filled red meat was associated with a 13% higher risk of dying during the 28-year study. Processed meat products such as hot dogs, bacon, and salami were especially hazardous. The antidote? Eating more fish, poultry, whole grains, and low-fat dairy may lower your risk of dying prematurely, the study found.

I generally don't get to worked up about thes type of articles. I mean who really wants to eat only chicken and fish anyway. The public also dosnt really pay that much either. I mean you don't need an article to tell you that McDonald's is bad for you, but look how many people eat there. There was even an hbo documentary called super sized that made them look bad and I haven't seen any closing up since then. People who take a lot out of these articles aren't eating meat anyway. Red meat tastes best so even if its not the best for you I'm ok with that. You have to die of something anyway might as well enjoy your time here.

Just imagine how old some of these guys would live if they hadn't have eaten red meat. I think Soap went to a funeral of a 98 year young gentleman yesterday. All 4 of my great grandmothers were 98 or better. Dang if they hadn't have eaten red meat all their lives, they would be competing with Moses for longevity.

As 3M L&C says, the meat eaters don't pay any attention to garbage like this, and the ones that do just eat more!

Not sure if red meat takes years away from your life or not..........I'm going to keep eating beef..........it will be my wheelchair, diaper wearing years that are shortened. :)

The nice thing about all these health nuts and people who exercise all the time, is that they all die healthy. I wouldnt be to worried about the study, just remember, everything in moderation, including red meat...

We bury a few old Gentlmen around here too that enjoyed their Ribeyes, near as I can tell what the old gentlemen had in common in regards to longivity was, Hard work, honesty no tobbaco fresh food water and air and moderate alcohol consumption and walking close to the lord...................Not neccesarily in that order.
good luck
