Power was off due to a blizzard since last Thursday @ 11:00 am until this Monday afternoon around 4:00 pm. Sure is welcome to put the generator to rest. We arn"t the last ones to get it though, as some are still out. The storm was lots harder on power poles than on cattle. Glad for that.

Shortgrass,

Heard on the radio about the blizzard in CO, closing several hundred miles of roads, how bad did you get it? Heard it was pretty nasty.

If our power was out we'd be totally screwed, since we have very few ponds we very much depend on wells. Glad you got your power back :)

Well the storm was bad enough, but the saving grace is that it only blew about 8 hours. There was a lot of water in it--.7 inch in the guage. Winter wheat guys loved it, and a few guys still had feed in a windrow that didn't like it so well. The cattle lost no hair and shrink was minimal. Like I say, the worst hist was taken by the Southeastern Power Company.

Have any of you been around or used the solar power pumps??? I am looking at maybe getting one for the pasture, but wanted some opinions first. To get electicity out there will cost a fortune?

P Joe, I have used solar pumps, they tend to run low output but way cheaper than putting in power lines. I worked with Sunelco in Hamilton MT, I think they have a website you can check out. They are getting better all of the time with newer technology and the desire to make the earth more Green.
