Falcata - Yellow Alfalfa

Cowpuncher, tried to post you a e-mail thing on this site and don't know if it went through. I called the guy and he hasn't combined any for 3-4 years, between the deer and drought it has been hard. Will let you know if he has some this fall. He knew of another guy that has some on the wet years, so will check with him.

let me get all this straight...

no bloat, can't kill it, establised for 30 years in some places......1 to 3 lbs per acre seeding rate......

where do I get this?

How many tons per acre per cutting do you get from this? And how many cuttings per year do you get? Or how many cows per acre will it hold? And how many cows per acre can you run on other types of forage?

I planted 30 pounds of Bud Smith's yellow alfalfa seed on 10 acres in the Texas Panhandle, just west of Amarillo. We are going to use the seed we harvest to interseed CRP that is mainly Plains Bluestem. Mr. Smith said rows about 6 -8 feet apart is about right in established grass.

He used to charge $30 per bulk pound. I thought I heard Wind River was about $8.

I will have some seed available to sell by mid December 2005.
