My youngest son wanted to take his oldest son to do some shooting. Of course,,, I suggested we go out to the Simpson Spring area. I surly didn't intent to check on the mustangs while we were there. We stopped to kick the tires on the Dugway road and glassed the Little Davis Mountain. From about four miles I could see a small band but I figured we should do the shooting first. We stopped at a gravel pit which I figured was about the safest place to shoot in the area. The grand kid poked a couple of holes in the 8 ring with his .22 Ruger and "rock splattered" the target a little. Then we moved it out to about 80 yards and he put a 7mm Mag. hole in the outside of the 7 ring. I thought that was pretty good for being the first time he had shoot the 7mm. Then the old man put four holes in the ten ring with a .223, Weatherby Vanguard, topped with a Weaver V24,,6x24 scope. I shot it once before when I sighted it in,, and was really disappointed with my shooting ability. After these four shots I quit,,, while I was ahead and before I messed it up. We all had a lot of fun,, and I got to spend the day with a couple of pretty great guys.
We saw only 7 head of mustangs later in the day.
