Nature calls again.

Cougar(s) killed 8 of our ewes last night. Hounds are coming in the morning. Cats are dead, they just don't know it yet.

The ranching world would be a lot nicer with less tooth and claw in it.

Darn..Gcreek that's not good. just a ?.... are gaurd dog's effective on wolve's or cat's or do you end up with hurt or dead gaurd dog's. they seem to work around here but our biggest predator is the coyote.

Guard dog made quite a bit of noise last night but cougars are not something we normally think of in winter. If wolves are around she makes a different bark.

The last winter cat we had here was 1996, the one I clubbed to death.

Been looking for eyes.

Headed to Lloyd tomorrow noonish. Might miss out on all the killin'.

Wolf pack that was a week overdue left their tracks on the road today. Should be some toes pinched tomorrow also. Ol' Dan doesn't miss much.

GCreek, I am not familiar with cats, There have been a hand full in the area but nothing more then that. My question is why is it unusual for there to be a cat around in the winter.

The mule deer don't winter here, they migrate to lower elevations. Cats follow them up in the summer. It's usually the younger cats that are too stupid to follow the deer back that get hungry and then get themselves in trouble.

The odd big tom learns to kill moose but not as a rule.

Cats are funny too I see little lap dog tree them in a front yard yet other will get a lion hound off from the other dogs and kill it.
See sleds every day go by with dog cages on back it lion season here
