Was wondering what everyone uses on electric fence or energizer recommendations where a/c is not available? Do you have a portable generator that you take out to the site or use solar or battery charged units?

I use a gallagher charger hooked to a deep cycle marine battery which in turn is hooked to a solar panel. works pretty good and even the deer respect it a little bit.

We have a speedrite 9000 hooked to a deep cycle battery and a panel with charge controller. It works wonderfully.
We also run a Speedrite 6000i that can be used both AC and battery. They now make a 12000i. It is on a deep cycle battery and a smaller panel than the 9000. The 6000i is very nice as it is remote controlled, but nowhere near as powerful as the 9000.
In the yard we run an AC 36000R. It is rated for 220 miles of fence, and I believe it...

A good ground for a solar powered charger makes a huge difference in battery life.

I have nothing bad to say about Speedrite, but I use all Gallagher chargers.
