This little guy showed up a couple days ago.

The mare has a cough (as do most of the horses in this country) and every time she coughs she squirts urine out. She has a dark discoloring all over her hind quarters from swishing her tail that is urine soaked. Colt seem to be fine and she looks to have plenty of milk.

Thank you all. I think when he gets past the spindly stage, he'll be alright.

I'm ridin' his mothers full brother and just love him. He's the first colt out of our new stud, Mijo. One down, two to go. And Peaches, if she don't hurry up, is going to explode!

AWWWWWW :) How did you end up with a colt! The rest of us ended up with fillies this year :) Look at those momma cows. They are like what the heck is that thing!

Cute colt-real interesting marking on his face! If he gets his momma's body he'll be a real dandy. One thing though, he's not a bay.... :-)

Congrats Jingles...way cute.

Judith...We have one mare left to foal and we don't have a single filly...all colts. Maybe the last one will be the charm.

Thanks for the pics Jingles...

Cheers---

Well shes on green grass she should get rid of that cough soon :)

The colt is very nice JB

All the horses have been on grass for a month. It's some kind of a flu bug. Snotty noses and a cough. Takes about 3 weeks for them to get over it.

Well I can't tell they are black and staring :) And I have to say I was thrown off by the color, I thought you ran colored stuff. That's my excuse and I'm stickin to it! ( in truth I really didnt even look before I posted, next time I will look closer. I wondered where all the calves were....)

TTB,
I can not believe you ended up with all colts, however that is great! We are gonna need some boys around to balance out all these fillies! Between yours and jinglebob's here I think we should do OK :)

Cute colt, you'll have to post some more pics in a week or two when he's filled out a litte more. :)

Donut had a colt May 4th to help even out the filly ratio  . I was hoping for a filly, but oh well the little dude is happy and healthy.
I don't know why my stud throws filly's for everyone else except me. :???: :x He was a huge filly producer before I got him :???:

Jigger, you got a colt exactly for that reason! If you would have wanted a colt I can almost guarantee that you would have had a filly! LOL Not sure why it works that way but it seems to :)

Could be TTB, we had three sons and didn't get any daughters 'till the boys married them.

About the same deal on our place. I think there have only been two girls born on our ranch since the early 1900's...my sister in law (who has three brothers) and our little niece (who has 4 brothers) who was born the day after Christmas 2006. Otherwise, all other wimmen  came by marriage.

I say it's the water. We get so little of it generally that it must cause the chemical that makes male sperm swim faster to be in a higher concentration!

Cheers---

Sooo, if you want girls, drink more whiskey than water?

We've got a couple guys around here who were pretty wild and willfull lady's men in their younger days and made a lot of parents of girls, pretty worried and upset.

When they both eventually got married, they both had all daughters. I say it's just the Good Lord, with a sense of humor and a sense of paybacks and revenge. At least that is what I tell both of them, every chance I get.

Come to think of it, I don't think they ever drank as much water as they did beer and wiskey either.
