The Cornhusker football program has established itself as a traditional powerhouse and has the fourth most all-time victories of any NCAA FBS team, and is one of only eleven football programs in NCAA Division 1 history to win 800 or more games. Nebraska has the most wins, and the highest winning percentage of ANY college football program over the last 50 years.

ESECPN ranks the undefeated 1971 team and the undefeated 1995 squad as among the top three teams in college football history.

Factor in the home sellout streak dating from 1962, and having the most Academic All-Americans of any program, and it's no wonder that "there is no place like Nebraska".

Carry on, have a great weekend, and Go Big Red!

More important than ancient history, South Carolina has represented the SEC in yet ANOTHER National Championship!!!

A HC that's 137 years old doesn't have much of a future....or are you wanting to forget the Ron Prince "future" you enjoyed the first time Wee Willy retired? If you really, really want to pull out the tape measure & measure deek size, program against program...be my guest...but your program, like yourself, will always come up "short".

Nobody knows what the future holds...it's not tangible. Past performance is all any of us have to go on. So, if you want to earn a seat at the table, start by winning a National Championship or have an undefeated season...that will be a start. Nebraska didn't garner all those stats and accolades by being a flash in the pan

Can't wait til BYU whoops you boys in football. :D Lets start placing interesting side bets when the game approaches shall we? 8) September 5th in Lincoln. Just saying. :D :D :D

Sorry, H. A certain "Mouth from not too far south" of me has ruined my faith in members of this board to pay off when they make bets, especially when said bets are publicly posted.

But that doesn't mean we couldn't have some fun of the non monetary kind. ;-)

you could not be any more wrong old friend.... if you base your future on past performance, you will never amount to much....

I am all about the non-monetary kind! It takes money to actually place bets! :D :D Put your thinking cap on and figure out how we can make September 5th even more crazy than just a regular college football game already is.

I was a little kid rooting for Nebraska in "71" - as I remember it went nebraska, Oklahoma, & Colorado; 1,2,&3. One of the facts that bothers me the most about Jayhawk football struggles: Kansas passed on bob devaney the year before nebraska hired him. Arrrg!

Nebraska's present is a problem: not much success during the time high school recruits have walked the planet.

With Coach Riley now on the job I don't think the present will be a problem for much longer. He & his staff have pretty well shut the Bo-lievers up. Good things are on the way.

The Nebraska athletic program needs to step up its game a bit. The 2014-15 academic year appears destined to go down as a relatively disappointing one in terms of Husker athletics.

With a handful of key sports still in-season (baseball, softball, track and field), Nebraska ranks 10th among 14 Big Ten schools in terms of average conference finish. NU's 6.92 finish is just ahead of No. 11 Northwestern.

Of the 13 sports completed, 12 Husker teams finished either the same or worse than last season.

This isn't the apocalypse. Nebraska athletics obviously remain strong in far too many areas to mention. The amount of energy, passion and resources that go into the programs ensures continued success.

That said, it's easy to imagine Nebraska finishing 2014-15 with only one Big Ten championship, in men's indoor track. Gary Pepin, in his 35th season as Husker men's and women's coach, deserves a lengthy round of applause.

Bottom line, there is no way Nebraska ever would be satisfied with 10th in the league's average-finish standings, where Michigan (4.00), Wisconsin (4.86) and Ohio State (5.00) are the top three schools.

Frank Solich was going to continue the tradition, he came from with in and was not going to let it slide.... fired for a nine win season
Callahan was brought in as a savior, west coast offense, perfect for pro pipeline requiting, make room for 4 more national titles....fired after a nine win season
Bozo Pelini.... touted as God's gift to football, he won a bowl game as an "interim" coach, he was going to restore the order....fired after nine win season,
a word of advice to the new guy, Coach Nobodyknowsmyname, win 8 or less / ten or more...the number nine seems to be the killer in Lincoln
