What college football team has the most wins over the last 40 seasons?

1. Nebraska 389
2. Ohio State 366
3. Florida State/Oklahoma 365
5. BYU 354
6. Michigan 348
7. Penn State
8. Georgia

The B1G looks pretty dominant in this category, having 4 of the top 8 teams. Hats off to BYU as well.

Why go back just 40 years? Go back all the way in ancient history and I think you'll find Yale as the big winner.

Or better yet, lets look at the last 10 years.

Championship History

Year

Champion

Selecting Organization

2014 Ohio State CFP
2013 Florida State BCS
2012 Alabama BCS
2011 Alabama BCS
2010 Auburn BCS
2009 Alabama BCS
2008 Florida BCS
2007 Louisiana State BCS
2006 Florida BCS
2005 Texas BCS

Then be really accurate and go back to Yale's record. Ha! I believe they have 872 wins. I know they were on top a few years ago in total wins.

How the f would that be accurate? Yale had probably been playing football decades longer than most colleges. They were winning games for years ahead of the powerhouses of today. Once again, apples & oranges.

Consistency.

Actually modern era should be restricted to the last 20 years. Going back beyond that, is irrelevant to 18 y/o recruits.

If you go way back as modern, Kansas has a better program then ksu & we both know that isn't the case. Go back 20 years and you run into reality.

The inconvenient truth Nebraska must always live with: Nebraska fled the big 12 from the middle of the north. There are no "facts" to change this, and all that scapegoating on Texas doesn't hold water unless Nebraska wants to share home gate revenues with Kansas. Oh hell no to that! Right? On one hand Nebraska wants to eat what you kill, on the other hand Nebraska flees the big 12 over eating what you kill. Quitting the big 12 or fleeing the big 12 or however you want to dress up that pig won't restore Nebraska to relevance. Neither will self serving stats.

Well, Brad....don't be surprised if before too long both Kansas and Oklahoma find themselves in the B1G. That's the scuttlebutt in Lincoln, according to Daughter #2.

I've heard that also. In the 80s the big 10 made a move at Kansas. Some claim the reagents disallowed it. Now, Kansas FB would benefit from having a few cupcakes in the conference. When ksu and osu and tcu are your get well games it makes for a long season unless you're ou.

Seems like the sportswriters like the Huskers enough to put more of them on their newest little all time list than players from any other schools. Bo Jackson only made third team, the talent was so stacked.

Bo Jackson was a baseball player. Football was a hobby.

Would these be the sports writers that have nd ranked fourth? Uh ok. Were you touting their wisdom when they didn't even think Nebraska belonged in the game the year Tom oz won his first title?

No doubt Nebraska had a great FB program, but the only high school recruit that has seen a great Nebraska team flunked 3rd grade 14 times.
