CAMARILLO, Calif. Jul 23, 2006 (AP)— Nationwide gas prices hit an all-time high in the last two weeks, rising nearly 2 cents to just over $3 per gallon, according to a survey released Sunday.

The national average for self-serve regular stood at $3.0150 a gallon Friday, up 1.98 cents in the last two weeks, according to the Lundberg Survey of 7,000 gas stations across the country.

The price exceed the previous high of $3.0117 set in September last year, analyst Trilby Lundberg said.

A gallon of mid-grade gasoline averaged around $3.12, and premium at nearly $3.22.

Nationwide, the lowest price for regular was $2.77 a gallon in Charleston, S.C., while the highest $3.28 a gallon was in San Diego.

Our diesel is hovering at right around 3 bucks a gallon. Last fall , around Haloween I remember it being around 3.30 around here, acros the river in Iowa it was 20 cents cheaper and by the time I got to Kansas I saw a few places in the 2.60 range.. I try not to think about it too much but always od when we get the bill for our off road diesel. Enough to make you park all the machines and exercise those walking muscles.

I still try to think of what they pay in other countries and it makes me feel a bit better. Ca only imagine what they pay in Europe, it was 5 bucks a gallon there back in 92 when I visited... All I know is I really miss the .99 gas that I got when I first had my truck and that was only 6 years ago.

It actually went down here lately. Or at least in Silver City. I don't even look at what it is here, it was over $3 a gallon way last year.......it runs about $.60 a gallon higher here than anywhere around.

We got the "cheap" gas for $2.999 a gallon in town on Thursday. Of course, coming home the brand new fuel filter (they just put it on that morning) got so clogged up that we had to call Hubby, and he came and towed us on home from the other side of the mountain (about 14 miles). Not sure if it was the new gas, or just stuff that was in the tank already...got to get a new filter put on this morning, I guess......since everywhere from here, is uphill.........
