Genetic Question

Does anybody out there know if a cow can carry an embryo from a none related species? In particular I wondered if a cow could carry a Muskox embryo to term. I have been carrying this idea around as a solution to more rapidly propagate endangered species. If any knows where there is experimental info on this I would appreciate it. Thanks Buck

I worked on a project with some friends in university for interested investors about 15 years ago. At that time the technology did not exist to do what you are talking about, and I suspect it would be extremely cost prohibitive.
As a result of that project though the same friends are breeding muskox. I guess I missed out on that opportunity :lol: .
Possibly doable, but extremely costly. Probably for the cost of one possible successful embryo you could save enough habitat for a thousand plus...
