IN THE NEWS -- SWIFT BUYOUT IS ANNOUNCED

Swift Brands was acquired by JBS, SA, to become the world's largest beef company. JBS, a Brazilian company who only recently became a public company, paid $225 million in cash and assumed $1.2 billion of debt. The company will have beef operations in South America, Australia and the United States. The transaction is expected to complete in 45 days.

I hate to even post this, but will throw myself into the fire, I guess....

We don't want packers to be profitable in this country. When this happens...I guess the owners become foreign  I would just about bet my life that if the previous Swift owners were making $$$ hand over foot, like most of us think they are, they'd not be selling.

I spent a lot of time in college collecting carcass data in Greeley, and I agree this is a sad day.

Let the butt chewing you all want to unload on me begin.

TTB
