Good job for a Sunday morning

Last night putting out mineral came across a second calver with quills in her head. Looks like she put her head trying to rub out the porcupine out but got quills stuck in and around her eye. Bad deal. We got her into a stack yard and loaded her Soapweed style brought it home and cleaned up the quills.
She probably will lose the use of the eye but she sure stayed calm while we pulled quills, washed around it and put a patch over it to keep out the wind and sun. A shot of OXY LA and she should be fine except of course probaly be blind in that eye.
We have been over run with porcupines this winter getting rid of any we come across.

Funny (not) how you prairie folks have porkys on the increase and they are getting few and far between here in the jackpines. I think we've only seen 2 in the last three years, don't miss them at all.
